WEEK 11 (SEMESTER  2)

Tittle: Function of voltage divider and  wiring
Content:In this project, there number of voltage divider used is two. The function of this voltage divider is to measure the value of the input voltage and send the result to the Arduino. The first voltage divider is to measure the output from the power supply and the second voltage divider is to measure the output from the generator. Below is the example of the voltage divider.

WEEK 10 (SEMESTER  2)

Date: 11.11.2015
Tittle: Coupling method between Two Dc motor
Content:The reason to use of this method is to get the higher output voltage from the generator. From the experiment done, the percentage of the output voltage after apply of this method is increasing until 100%  from its original output voltage.

The connection between the two fans is in series so that the fan can take more voltage due to the motor of the fan will spin faster than either of the original motors. The weakness of using this series method is the torque. Therefore, the suitable type of fan is important to less the torque. If the fan is connected in parallel, the result is the fan motor will deliver more torque than its original motor and the weakness is the speed of the fan motor is limited. Below is the way on how to couple the two fan motor.


The precaution that needed during the coupling process is the nut should screw up tightly so that the motor will operating more efficient.The position must be really in series in order the motor  to function correctly.

Tittle: Modification of the fan


Content:The fan is modified by adding the Dc motor of 3 Volt.This is one of the method to increase the output voltage from the generator.The result of the maximum output from generator after applying this method is 3.6Volt.Here is the picture after the fan is already modified:

WEEK 8 (SEMESTER  2)

Tittle: Start to create the coding for the software(Arduino)


Content: From referring the the expert friends and you tube,I finally achieved to create or modified my own program.It is quite simple so that easy to explain and people can easily understand.The coding is about the to switch the system from using the main power supply to the battery and vice versa.

The system will switch to the main power supply if the voltage in the battery reach a certain limit which is 3.6 Volt and after the battery is fully charge(12Volt),the arduino will send the signal to relay to switch the system to use the power from the battery.   Below is my coding :

WEEK 6(SEMESTER  2)

Date: 14.10.2015
Tittle: Solving the problem how to connect the boost converter with the Arduino (HARDWARE PART)

Content:The output from the boost converter is 12Volt but the maximum input for the Arduino is 5Volt.The negative effect if we supply more than 5Volt to the input Arduino is the circuit of Arduino will burned.Therefore,I have to take the precaution before the incident happen to my project.

Finally I got the idea to  buy the voltage divider circuit.The function of this circuit is to calculate and decrease the number of voltage from the boost converter circuit to the Arduino circuit.

WEEK 4 (SEMESTER  2)

Tittle: Capacitor is used to make the current and voltage increase

Content:The problem is the output current from the generatot is too small which is 0.005mA.From my research,the capacitor can be used to increase the output current by its charging and discharging method.Below is the circuit of the charging method by using the capacitor.


The result for this method is not really obey my objective because when come to the discharging process it have and infulence the number of voltage.The detail explaination I will come out in the report.

Tittle: TESTING FOR THE BOOSTER CONVERTER
Content:There is various type of boost converter.To choose the suitable converter,we have to know the maximum output voltage from cooler fan then we can choose the range for the boost converter.For my project,the maximum output is 0.5 Volt.The obejective of my project is to get 12 Volt output voltage.Therefore, I  have to find the range of boost converter between 0.5 Volt until 12 Volt.

From my research,the near and suitable boost converter for my project is 0.5 Volt until 30Volt.Below is the picture of the my suitable boost converter.

Tittle: Result for testing the maximum voltage that can be produced by the cooler fan



Content: I am using 2 cooler fan which is similar in size.(15cmx15cm)The first cooler fan is connected to the power supply directly.The second cooler fan is put near to the first cooler fan.The output from the second cooler fan is connected to the multimeter and the reading of the maximum voltage can be produced  is 0.5V.Below is the picture of the cooler fan.

Content: For this semester,I have to do the prototype about my project.I have already survey about the main component that I have to buy to proceed with this project.Below is the list of the main component.

WEEK 10

Title:study for FYP presentation

Content:Due to the postpone date of FYP 1 presentation,i continue my study about this project,In this week,i had understand about my programming which is arduino.






Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing or Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The open-source IDE can be downloaded for free (currently for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux).



The Arduino Uno can be powered via the USB connection or with an external power supply. The power source is selected automatically.

    WEEK 6

    Title:Research about generator


    For this week,i would like to search about the type of generator.Finally,i found that the suitable type of generator for mt project is DC generatot.


    From the research,generator is a machine which converts mechanical energy (or power) into electrical energy (or power). This energy conversion is based on the principle of production of dynamically induced emf.


    According to Faraday Law, when a conductor moves in a magnetic field (thereby cutting the magnetic flux lines), a dynamically induced emf is produced in the conductor. The magnitude of generated emf can be given by emf equation of DC generator. If a closed path is provided to the moving conductor then generated emf causes a current to flow in the circuit.


    Hence, the basic essential parts of an electric generator are :



    • A magnetic field 



    • A conductor or conductors which can so move as to cut the flux.
